Gary Carlile George was born on March 25, 1944, in Windsor, Colorado, to Clifford and Elizabeth George. Raised with his brothers, Claron, Allen, and Donald, Gary graduated from high school in Oregon and then entered the military.

Gary proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from June 19, 1962, until his honorable discharge on September 13, 1966. During his service, he was stationed in Okinawa, Camp Pendleton, and Marine Corps Air Station El Toro in Santa Ana, California. His awards included the Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Vietnam Service Medal. Following his service, he returned to Portland, Oregon.

On April 14, 1972, Gary married Arleta Klinger and became part of the lives of her two sons, Kenneth and Mark Klinger. Gary and Arleta later welcomed their daughter, Kristine in 1975.

In later years, Gary moved from Beaverton, Oregon, to Anchorage, Alaska, in 2004. He relocated to Washington in 2013, making his home in Benton City.

Gary was preceded in death by his wife, Arleta; his parents, Clifford and Elizabeth George; and his brother, Allen George.

He is survived by his brothers, Claron George of Lawton, OK, and Donald George and his wife, Esterlita, of Marysville, WA; his stepsons, Kenneth and Mark Klinger; and his daughter, Kristine George.

Gary will be remembered for his love of anything that came with a motor: cars, motorcycles, boats, and airplanes; even the smaller things like lawn mowers and wood chippers. He believed in fixing things himself and helped his daughter with many remodeling projects to her homes over the years. He also loved animals, taking care of several cats and dogs throughout his life, and he will be missed by his two surviving cats, Ricky and Daisy.
