Obituary

Juanita Rose Russell Loid was born in a home on Asotin Creek with a midwife in Asotin, WA, on October 16th, 1943, to parents Arthur Leslie Russell and Elna Juanita Blood Russell. She joined a sister, Iva Lee Russell, born June 14th, 1942. She grew up in the Asotin area, attending school in Anatone and later Asotin, graduating from Asotin High School in 1961.

On December 1st, 1961, she met Richard C. (Dick) Loid at an Arctic Circle Drive-Inn in Clarkston, WA. They were married on February 23rd, 1962, in Lewiston, Idaho. They made their home in Carnation, WA, for 27 years before moving to Burbank, WA, in 1990, and later to Kennewick, WA.

Dick and Juanita had two sons, Richard (Rick) Charles Loid, Jr., and Christopher Lee Loid. She is survived by her husband Richard; Rick and Brandee Loid of Connecticut; Chris and Cary Lynn Loid of Benton City, WA; and grandchildren Beau, Airin, Brandy Kay, Hailey Rose, and Dakota. She also leaves three great-grandchildren: Addyson Lee, Braleigh, and Layla Loid.

Juanita was preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Elna Russell; sister Iva Lee Laughter; grandparents Arthur and Iva Russell, Emmett and Alma Blood; and several aunts and uncles. She had two Native American grandmothers on her maternal side — great-great-grandma Mary Ford and great-grandma Mamie Chase.

Juanita attended Grace Point Church of God in Pasco, WA, where she had many wonderful friends. For years, she was part of the Faithbuilders senior group, playing piano, leading worship, and traveling with them to different places.

She loved her son Chris Loid’s music and said her favorite scripture was Isaiah 41:10 — “Fear not, for I am with thee; be not afraid, for I am thy God; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will strengthen thee; yea, I will uphold thee with my righteous right hand.”

Juanita loved the song “No One Ever Cared for Me Like Jesus” and others like “Amazing Grace,” “In This Life I Was Loved by You,” “Look at Us,” and “How Great Thou Art.”

She loved to travel, especially to Arizona and the Grand Canyon. She thanked God for a wonderful husband of 63 years, her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and her many dear friends.

Celebration of Life Service will be held October 19, 2025 at 3pm. Location is 1915 Rd 84, Pasco WA at Grace Point Church.
