Sherwood E Hazelton July 10,1934-October 4, 2024.

Sherwood E Hazelton was born to Alice Dupre and William Hazelton. One of seven children, William, Wayne, Ronnie, Happy, Gary, Sherry.

He served in the military with two honorable discharges from the Army and then the Airforce, during the Korean Conflict. He worked for the railroad, and the last 40 years prior to retirement for the Hilton on the Beach.

While on leave in New York City, he met the love of his life Helga Marie Maurer. They had two daughters Heidi Marie Smolka and Helga Joy Behen. He was known to many as Grandpa Bob and Great Grandpa Bob. He loved the sun and ocean, spending more than 48 winters in Florida. Many of his hobbies included tennis and swimming. He made it a routine to go to the gym and exercise daily. Summers in New Hampshire were spent eating lobster and enjoying the lakes. Bob was always the life of the party with his humorous stories, I'm sure he is reliving them now with Hector, his best buddy.

Obtaining sobriety for more than 52 years gave him the opportunity to help others realize their potential. He was an inspiration to many people struggling with addition. One of his many sayings, "if you don't drink, you won't get drunk."

The last ten years of his life was spent in Kennewick Washington. Being with family and sharing holiday meals were among the things he enjoyed most. Even in 100-degree weather you could find him sitting in the hot tub or reading one of his John Clancey books. Classical music was among his favorite, but he could shake a leg at any event. Trips to the Indian casino added to his pastime enjoyment.

Bob was at peace and ready to join those who have passed. He was loved and respected. He will truly be missed.
